Our March meeting will highlight a presentation by Rosie Bishop, the Lead County Park Naturalist at Lake Cachuma Recreation Area.
Rosey Bishop grew up in the foothills of Santa Barbara and has always had a love and curiosity for the outdoor areas and wildlife around her. After graduating from Santa Barbara High School, she moved north and attended UC Santa Cruz. After graduating, she returned to her hometown to begin a job as a Naturalist at the Rancho Alegre Outdoor School, known by many in the area as “Science Camp”. She was drawn to this opportunity because she had attended the program as a sixth grader and had amazing memories of the experience. For the next four years, Rosey educated thousands of students from the Central Coast area all about the fascinating wonders of our natural world, while encouraging environmental stewardship. In 2012, Rosey became an Assistant Naturalist for Santa Barbara County Parks at Cachuma Lake. She got a boat captains license to lead Nature Cruises on the lake, developed interesting nature walks, activities and evening fireside programs. In 2015, Rosey was promoted to lead Park Naturalist. Since then, she has continued to create and offer interesting, fun and high quality outdoor experiences to thousands of local and traveling visitors.
