Creekspirit Wildlife Foundation
a 501(C)(3) Private Operating Foundation
FOUNDED FOR THE BENEFIT OF WILDLIFE AND THEIR PRESERVATION
Welcome to the Creekspirit Wildlife Foundation. Our mission is to provide private support to preserve wildlife and its environment through education, conservation, collaboration, and inspiration. To learn more, keep on reading. Our website is a work in progress and could change daily until we are happy with it. As a fully qualified 501(c)3 public benefit organization, your contributions are tax deductable to the extent allowed by law.
Our Programs:
To carry out its mission and guide its activities, the Foundation has developed a four-point program.
We provide educational programs for both children and adults on the preservation of wildlife and their native environment.
We encourage the future conservation of wildlife by helping wildlife in need (e.g., wildfire effects on wildlife).
We support our preservation initiatives through collaboration with other like-minded nonprofit organizations. And,
We provide inspiration for the future of wildlife and their environment through our Wildlife Library, the Dome of the Great Bear and the Creekspirit Mosaic Gardens of Wildlife Art.
The design of the Creekspirit garden reflects a feeling of peacefulness, spirituality, quiet beauty, and functionality.
The Creekspirit Garden of Mosaic Art, is a 3+ acre parcel nestled in the center of Santa Barbara’s historic Mission Canyon, covered by oak, redwood, sycamore and bay trees. As one strolls through the garden you will see that it has been divided into five several different areas.
DOME OF THE GREAT BEAR: The centerpiece of Creekspirit is the "Dome of the Great Bear," a 700 sq. ft. meeting place in which numerous mosaics have been installed that pay homage to the California Grizzly Bear who no longer inhabits California.
WILD KOI POND: A large, open 2,000 gal. fresh water pond filled with four large Koi and dozens of smaller fish of all sizes.
WILD BIRD TERRACE: A paved terrace with inlaid mosaics depicting images of the wild birds of John James Audibon, the American self-trained artist, naturalist, and ornithologist. The terrace and its water spouting duck sits between two tall 100’ Sycamore trees that has been the scene of several weddings in the past, including that of its founders Dave Gledhill & Patti Jacquemain.
GLEDHILL GROVE: Named in honor of Jacquemain’s husband’s Santa Barbara family, the Gledhill Grove is a large 500 sq. ft. tree covered picnic area looking over our Wild Koi Pond.
ART BARN VISITORS CENTER: A small covered area containing a selection of original Woodblock prints, greeting cards, and publications created by Santa Barbara artist and Creekspirit Founder Patti Jacquemain.
Throughout the grounds of Creekspirit’s approximately three acre scenic grounds in historic Mission Canyon you will see many of Patti Jacquemain’s stunning mosaics of California’s past and present wildlife. View the short video below to receive a short tour of the Creekspirit Mosaic Garden of Art.
The Beginning:
Still in a natural setting, Creekspirit has evolved over the years into a "Garden of Art" in which have been installed many of Patti Jacquemain's mosaic pieces produced over the years, reflecting the essence of her artistic creativity. Creekspirit is located on the banks of seasonal Mission Creek in Santa Barbara's beautiful and historic Mission Canyon area. It comprises over three acres of redwood trees, native plants, ferns, flowers, and mosaic art.
